Jim Crow Laws- Emily A, Erin K, & Camila H

Jim Crow was a way of life. It was a racial caste system that mainly took place in the south. It downgraded African American citizens to second class, and they experienced violence and discrimination because of it. Many could not use public transportation and were considered secondary to white citizens in public areas. The Jim Crow laws were enforced entirely by white people. This prevented the blacks from taking legal action against the people who assaulted them. In public areas, signs were hung showing the separate treatments received by whites and blacks.
