No crime in history has ever produced as many trials, convictions, revearsels, and more retrials as did the alleged gang rape of two white girls by nine black men on Southern railroad freight run. On march 25, nineteen thirty one this horrible deed was done.over the course of the two decades that followed, the struggle for justice of the Scottsboro boys, as the black teens were called, made celebrities out of anomities, launched and ended carriers, wasted lives, produced heroes, exacerbated sectional strife and divided Americas political left.
